Literary Fellows for 2002 We are pleased to announce the nine writers who were awarded Fellowships in Literature given by the Writers League of Texas with funds from the Texas Commission on the Arts. These writers were part of 156 applicants for the 2002/03 Fellowship awards.
Judges for the competition included: Deirdre OConnor, poet and teacher at the Bucknell University Writing Center, Lewisburg, PA; Ryan G. Van Cleave, a freelance writer and editor, who has published eleven books and taught at Florida State University and the University of Wisconsin at both Madison and GreenBay; and Steve Sherrill, Assistant Professor of English who teachers Creative Writing and Integrative Arts courses at Penn State Altoona. All have received numerous awards for their writing and are published authors. In order to apply,
writers must be legal residents of Texas and cannot be enrolled in an
undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program. In September 2002,
guidelines will be available by writing, calling, or e-mailing the Writers'
League of Texas. |
