MAY 2004 MONTHLY MEETING May's Meeting features Stephen Harrigan May 20: One Book, One Texas author for Texas Writers' Month — Stephen Harrigan
Harrigan's presentation, "One Book, One Texas, One Author," will share the background behind his literary career and successes. Discussing the author's novel, THE GATES OF THE ALAMO, Jim Yardley of the New York Times once wrote, "He visited the Alamo as a 7-year old on a family trip and left transformed. When he decided as a teenager to become a novelist, he concluded that he would write about the Alamo. Three decades intervened before he managed to take up the subject, but much to his surprise he found it largely unplowed, at least in fiction." Don't miss this special presentation with Stephen Harrigan on Thursday, May 20, at Barnes & Noble Westlake.
