Kathi
Appelt is the author of more than twenty books for children and young
adults. Her picture book, OH MY BABY, LITTLE ONE, has received
several awards, including the prestigious Parent’s Choice Award,
the first Snuggletime.com Award for "Best Bedtime Book," sponsored
by the Center for Family Literacy, and most recently the American Booksellers
for Children "Choice" Award. Her collection of short stories
for teenagers, KISSING TENNESSEE, was selected as a "Best
Book for Young Adults" by the American Library Association, as well
as a "Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers". It was also listed
as "Top Shelf Fiction for Middle School Readers" by VOYA, a
"Best Book for the Teen Age" by the New York Public Library,
and was named an "Honor Book" by "Storytelling World."
Her third bat book, BATS AROUND THE CLOCK, was just given a Children’s Choice Award by the International Reading Association and the Children’s Book Council, and her new book for toddlers, RAIN DANCE, has been picked for the "Book of the Month Club."
Her latest picture book, BUBBLES, BUBBLES, was given an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award, and her first book of non-fiction, DOWN CUT SHIN CREEK: THE PACK HORSE LIBRARIANS OF KENTUCKY, was chosen as a "Pick of the Lists" by the American Booksellers.
